The Automatic Width Control FE-7 consists of a Measuring Bar, a Console FE-7 and an inflating and deflating device Tubair, Blowair, or Calibration Cage Control which changes the bubble size.

The Measuring Bar transmits the measured width to the Console FE-7. If the measured value does not correspond to the target width, the control unit transmits data to the air regulation unit. According to this data, the unit will inflate or deflate the bubble to regulate the width of the web.

The Measuring Bar, located after the collapsing frame, measures the width of the film and sends signals to
the Console FE-7.

The Tubair is an air regulation unit which regulates the bubble size by inflating or deflating, depending on the data received from the Console FE-7. It is used for stationary or oscillating dies.

The Blowair like the Tubair regulates the bubble size by inflating or deflating depending on the data received from the Console FE-7. It is powered by a compressor and can be used for continuously rotating dies. The data is transmitted by radio.

For systems with Inner Bubble Cooling the film width is controlled by correcting the calibration cage diameter. The IBC-control system works independently.

For systems with an adjustable take-off, the film width can be corrected by height adjustment.

This system has been developed for large gusseted films (e.g. pallet shrink-caps) where tight tolerances are expected from automatic processing.
